IN MEMORY
of our special

Irish Treasures

Old dog in a locket
That lays next to my heart
I will always love you
Even though we had to part

Jiggs (1988-2000)

Scarlett (1988-1995)

Scootie (1984-1996)

Matt (1993-2005)

And the very young ones...

Kelsey (2001-2005)

Duke (2001-2002)

Jiggs (Maronova's Kavanaugh Jiggs CD) was always glad to have visitors, and was the first to greet them at the front door. I will always miss my heart dog, my beloved Jiggs.

Scarlett (Maronova's Fermanagh Scarlett) was Jiggs' sister. She was a special girl with great beauty and quiet dignity. Scarlett was lost to cancer at the age of 7. This was when I first realized how attached the dogs and cats are to each other. The house was not the same without her, and Jiggs and Leo the Cat (Scarlett's favourite of four) pined for her for nearly a month.

Scootie (Oxfords Pride of Padraics) was Marianne Buck's foundation female (Maronova), and Jiggs' and Scarlett's mother. She dearly loved puppies and was a very caring mother, even helping her daughter care for her own puppies. After Scarlett died, Marianne let Scootie come to live with us to give Jiggs canine company. When Kiersey became a member of the household, Scootie gave her a nod of approval, and then died quietly just before Christmas (1996).

Matt (Cdn/Am Ch Balcaire Canadian Diplomat) was a very beautiful, loving boy, and a great showman. He is greatly missed by his owner Marie Tinlin and those of us who knew him. Matt was the father of Kyla's litter (Carannagh Litter 3). He is shown here with Marie at Cape Cod in 1997.

Precious little Kelsey (Carannagh's Kelsey) was a heroine. She died this past winter trying to protect her owner, Jennifer, from a car sliding on an icy country road by coming between Jennifer and the car. Jen, Jamie, Hayley, dad Lars, and her Irish brother Guinness miss her dreadfully.

Duke (Carannagh's Duke Fine Redwine) was hit by a car before the age of 2 when he escaped from his owners' house to visit another dog. He was a happy, loveable puppy, and is dearly missed by his family. This was a hard lesson for them and for me - about making sure each puppy has a fenced-in area or alternative measure to keep them safe for when they need or want to go out by themselves.
